Our Experience-Based Qualification (QbyE) is specifically designed for individuals currently working in the industry with substantial experience but lacking a New Zealand qualification. To establish evidence of your experience, we require supporting documents, a professional conversation with an industry assessor, and a practical assessment conducted at your workplace.

Industry Experience Requirements:

  • Hairdressing: 5+ years of full-time experience
  • Barbering: 3+ years of full-time experience

Qualifications

Qualifications available through the Experience-Based Qualification include:
  • New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Barbering (Level 4)
  • New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist) (Level 4)

COURSE LENGTH

The Experience-Based Qualification program typically takes 6 months to complete.

CRITERIA

Applicants need to fulfill a checklist of industry experience requirements, be employed in a relevant commercial environment pertaining to the certificate they are seeking, and possess a minimum number of years of experience within that industry.
